High-Tech Vinyl Flooring for Budget-Conscious Shoppers

In the past few decades, the vinyl flooring industry has made some impressive advances. Today's vinyl options include luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) and luxury vinyl planks (LVP) that provide you with some excellent flooring options. You can get exceptional quality, style, and durability, all at an affordable price.

At Modern Home Floor Covering, we carry a wide variety of vinyl flooring options. Our experienced staff will help you understand its benefits and find the right material for your home or business.

  • Fashionable appearance that resembles other materials — One of the biggest changes in today's vinyl flooring is that it's available in styles, colors, and textures that resemble other materials, such as natural wood, tile, and stone. Products that look like distressed or antique flooring are available.
  • High moisture resistance — Vinyl flooring is moisture resistant, easy to clean, and impervious to most stains. It's ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, dining areas, laundry rooms, and other places where spills are likely.
  • No waxing necessary — The surface of vinyl is treated to stay shiny without the need for waxing.
  • High scratch resistance — Vinyl is durable and resists damage, so it's great for high-traffic areas.
  • Flexible and comfortable — Vinyl feels nice to walk on and helps reduce breakage when items are dropped on it.
  • Affordable — Did we mention that vinyl is considerably more affordable than many other flooring options? It is! And it's affordable without looking cheap. You get an upscale look at a great price!
  • Eco-friendly options — Some vinyl flooring is made with virgin vinyl that doesn't release VOCs or require adhesives. Vinyl's inherent durability means it doesn't end up in a landfill as quickly as some other materials.

We carry LVT, LVP, and vinyl sheet flooring. Some products are designed for direct-glue installation, while others are made for floating installation. Our knowledgeable staff will help you understand the options. For your free in-home estimate, please call today.

Maintaining Your New Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl is naturally durable and easy to maintain, but it still needs a little care from time to time to ensure that it maintains its appearance.

  • Sweep it regularly — Dirt and grit can scratch the surface, so it's important to sweep the floor.
  • Clean up spills promptly — Vinyl can be slippery when it's wet, so you should wipe up spills as soon as possible. It's less likely to stain than other flooring materials, but it can be damaged by certain chemicals.
  • Mop with vinyl cleaner — We can recommend quality cleaning products that are formulated for vinyl.
  • Avoid the following:
  • Detergent and soap-based products that can dim the shine
  • Buffing, shining, or waxing that can harm the finish

Expert Installation for LVT, LVP, and Sheet Vinyl

With more than 50 years of experience, Modern Home Floor Covering is the one to call for vinyl flooring installation. We'll take care of everything from your free in-home estimate to the final tile.

To ensure that your installation goes smoothly, please keep the tips below in mind.

  • Begin with accurate measurements — Our installer will take in-home measurements to be certain we have enough material.
  • Plan to remove the existing flooring — Although some vinyl can be installed over the existing floor, most cannot. You'll need to arrange to have the current flooring removed (we can do it with advance notice) or remove it yourself before the installation can begin.
  • Plan to move the furniture — We'll need a clear room to install flooring. Please let us know if our installers will need to do it or if it will be done by the time they arrive. In any case, we recommend that you remove any fragile items from the room.
  • Measure your door clearances — If your new vinyl flooring is thicker than the previous material, your doors may rub. Someone will need to saw or shave the bottom of them.
  • Remodel the room before putting in flooring — To avoid damaging your new flooring, it's better to do any painting, wallpapering, or other renovation first.
  • Plan the vinyl plank layout — Luxury vinyl planks should run parallel to the windows or (in narrow rooms) along the longest wall.

During the installation, our experienced team will take care of several issues that help you get the best results.

  • Preparing the floor — In addition to removing the old flooring, prep work may be necessary to make the floor completely flat. In some cases, this may be extensive, such as installing a new subfloor.
  • Moisture testing — Vinyl flooring is less sensitive to moisture than hardwood or laminate flooring, but it's still important to test the moisture in the subfloor to prevent problems.
  • Flooring installation — Depending on the materials used, the vinyl flooring will be installed as a floating floor (the planks are attached to one another, not the floor) or carefully glued down.
  • Handling challenges — You can count on our knowledgeable installers to handle odd room shapes, kitchen islands, cabinets, narrow areas, and other unusual features that require precise measurements, cutting, and placement.

Make sure your new vinyl flooring is installed properly. Call Modern Home Floor Covering today for your free in-home estimate.
